Remembering 911

There’s a cold wind blowing this Tuesday evening in Wisconsin’s North Woods. Even though Fall has not yet officially begun it sure feels like it. You never know though by next week it may well once again seem like summer.

Today I’ve been remembering the fateful events of September 11, 2001. Just like so many from the past who remember where they were and what they were doing when JFK was assassinated I too remember exactly where I was and what I was doing that Tuesday in 2001. I was in Rhinelander on my way to the county landfill. I happened to turn on the radio shortly after the first plane struck one of the World Trade Centers. One of our local radio personalities was relaying over the air waves some of the horrifying details of what were available at that moment in time. I immediately called home to see if Kelli and the kids happened to be watching T.V., they were not so they quickly switched it on.

After the landfill I would go on to run my Tuesday trash route on the outskirts of Rhinelander and Kelli and I kept calling each other as further developments ensued through out the morning. She told me how they had caught live images of the disasters and were airing them over and over on the news. At that point I could only imagine.

Obviously this isn’t the first anniversary of that dreadful day that changed our world but it is the first one that is on a Tuesday. So today as I was traveling that same route down to the county landfill I was acutely aware of those events that transpired 6 years ago. If you’ve been paying attention much has changed since then.

Wars and rumors of wars have so pervaded our psyche that we scarcely pay attention anymore. Terror alerts come and go, as well as numerous thwarted attempts of other attacks. I have since learned of many unanswered questions that the official report does not even come close to addressing. Very disturbing questions. Rumors abound. It would not be a stretch to wonder if perhaps some things have been covered up. With most of us being so far removed from the epicenter of that day who can know for sure. We can only know what we hear. If there really is a cover up, disinformation is sure to be spread anyway. So we can only speculate.

Speculating is not what this post is about this day. Today I’ve been a bit preoccupied with a deep and sober remembrance since today is Tuesday and I went through many of the same motions as I did on 9-11, 6 years ago. I want to remember in prayer all the children and spouses who were left behind. I want to mourn over all the lives that have been lost in the subsequent wars. I am also grieving over the compromise of the Constitution and Bill of Rights that the “War on Terror“ has been chipping away at ever since.

Whatever the real reasons are that got us to where we are today we can still be sure that God is in control and nothing takes Him by surprise. There is a plan. Actually these are exciting times in which to live. All the changes we’ve seen since 911 are coming so fast it’s hard to even keep up with it all.

Over the weekend when we heard Joseph Farah speaking he said that he hears of people actually getting saved from reading his news website
WorldNetDaily. Apparently they are realizing how close the headlines are lining up with end times bible prophecy.

We’ll just keep on plugging along, living our lives out in the country and trying to be faithful to the Lord in all that we do. Trying our best to be salt and light and reflect Gods image to everyone we meet. Keep Looking Up

Until Next Time
